The Postgraduate School does not require an interview as a condition of entry. However, applicants are welcome to visit the AA. Please note due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the AA is currently unable to accommodate any in person visits at the moment. Application deadlines for 2022/23

Your online application must arrive by the dates listed below. Applications received after these dates may be accepted at the discretion of the school, please email before submitting an application after the late deadline.

The Postgraduate Programme has two official admissions deadlines as outlined below:

  • *Early application deadlines for 2022/23 close: Friday 28 January 2022* (last deadline for bursary applications)
  • Late application deadlines for 2022/23 close: Friday 11 March 2022

* In order to be eligible to apply for a bursary, applicants must submit their application and portfolio (if applicable) no later than 28 January 2022, stating their interest in an AA bursary in the Financial Assistance section. Applicants who require an English language examination must also have booked and passed one of the approved English language examinations listed on the AA website by 28 January 2022 in order to be eligible for a bursary.

How to proceed

The AA is a private institution. Anyone interested in applying to the AA must:

  • Complete this online application form and
  • Pay the relevant application fee.

The application procedure is the same for all applicants, regardless of where you are applying from. For full details please refer to the “How to Apply section” of the Postgraduate admissions pages.

Please note that only one application per applicant at any one time in any one admissions cycle will be considered. Please do not apply for more than one course.

HESA statement

The Architectural Association (AA) has been granted the power to award its own degrees. Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP) give UK higher education institutions the right to award bachelor’s and master’s degrees. As of 1 October 2019, the AA has the right to establish new academic programmes and degree awards. From September 2020 students admitted to the taught postgraduate programmes at the AA will be awarded AA degrees.

Please note the PhD programme at the AA is validated by the Open University. The AA is a Partner Institution and Affiliated Research Centre of the Open University (OU), UK.
